The MacKenzie Pipe Band was formed in 1918 at the end of the First World War to accommodate the need of the returning ex-servicemen to fulfil their musical aspirations.

After many successful years competing in Grade II, it was felt that amalgamating with another Pipe Band would strengthen Piping and Drumming in the Dundee area, and so the MacKenzie Caledonian Pipe Band was born.

1918 - MacKenzie Pipe Band was formed

1958 - MacKenzie and Caledonian Pipe Bands amalgamate and form the MacKenzie Caledonian Pipe Band

1975 - MacKenzie Caledonian Juvenile Pipe Band is formed

1986 - Band sponsored by Dundee District Council, and renamed the City of Dundee Pipe Band

1997 - Band named back to MacKenzie Caledonian Pipe Band

In 2008 The Mackenzie Caledonian Pipe had one of their most successful seasons to date.  In Grade 3A they won the British, European, World and Cowal Championships and were crowned Champion of Champions.
