The Kinross & District Pipe Band was formed in 1946, and one of the founding members of the Band and Pipe Major for over 20 years, Alex Murphy, still plays with and mentors the Band today.  Under the leadership of Alex’s grandson, Leon Murphy, the Band competes regularly in both major and minor competitions and performs at a number of engagements throughout the year including the prestigious opening of the world famous “T-in-the-Park” music festival in July.
