Tuesday 2nd June 2009

The Branch is delighted to announce that the brand new "Loch Leven Community Campus" in Kinross will be the host venue for the Branch Solos this year which will be held on Saturday 21st November.
This exciting new location, which on the day will have been open for business for less than a month, should provide much needed extra space for competitions and band preparation rooms alike, along with plenty of car parking space. The Solo piping and drumming competition will be one of a series of inaugural events for the new facility.

Look out for the competition Entry Form in our Documents section in the near future. Please note, as this is a RSPBA Branch competition, all competitors who have been issued uniforms by their bands will be expected to wear it on the day.

The 1st DPA Branch Pipe Band Workshop with Strathclyde Police judged a success!

Sunday 1st March 2009

Over 60 participants of all ages and abilities converged on the Quality Hotel in Perth on Sunday for the first ever Dundee, Perth & Angus Branch Pipe Band Workshop under the expert tuition of members of the Grade 1 Strathclyde Police Pipe Band.

Despite the large numbers of students, the short time available and the challenging range of abilities present the excellent tutors managed to work with all those present to cover a surprising amount of material in the day, culminating in a great fun and casual “Massed Bands” in the main hall of the hotel.  Who knows what the hotel residents thought !!

The feedback received on the day was overwhelmingly positive, and also provided a number of valuable suggestions for improving the event further in years to come.  Roll on next year!
